Annually these consulting firms or entities dedicated to software, elaborate this ranking considering different criteria and, that help to outline, which ERP can adapt more to each company considering these variables.

Gartner defines the cloud ERP market for those companies focused on both products and services, within its widely known Gartner Magic Quadrant. Through which it profiles software companies as leading, niche, challenger or visionary players.

This approach attempts to provide a global view of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, including services for the automation of operational and financial activities linked to the manufacturing, distribution, delivery and service of products. Gartner believes that ERP is key to making companies more competitive.

World's most used ERP according to Gartner and other reports

Now that we have discussed what criteria each one considers as outstanding in their rankings and/or ratings, let's get into the subject. What are the most used ERP in the world according to Gartner and other reports?

1. Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP

According to Gartner, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is the market leader, positioned in the leaders quadrant for both products and services. It provides a highly configurable global solution for Tier 1 organizations and a high market segment, targeting larger enterprises. It has global customers in the Americas, EMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa] and APAC [Asia/Pacific]. It is important to highlight the large investment required for the implementation of this ERP and that only the financial module can be purchased from 175 €/month/user, which implies a significant cost depending on the number of users.

Oracle Fusion Cloud is an ERP managed 100% in the cloud running in Oracle's data centers. And it is open to third-party solutions. They perform four software updates per year.

2.- Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP

There is a double positioning for Microsoft ERP with two of its modalities, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance which is oriented for large companies and eight updates per year twice as much as Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP.

And on the other hand, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a more niche player but is a leader in smaller companies, for small and medium enterprises, highlighting its ease of integration and use, in addition to the technical support service. This Dynamics 365 ERP platform stands out for its scalability for companies and is very useful for business consolidation. It stands out in North America and EMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa]. And it is worth noting that it is a much cheaper solution than Oracle as you can have your licenses from 59 €/month per user, which is almost a third of Oracle's license price for each user.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is based on implementations through its partner network only, and is a solution that can be managed 100% in the cloud (cloud) but also includes local configurations (on-premise) or hybrid, but the manufacturer is strongly committed to the cloud in its developments and updates. This solution relies heavily on partner solutions available on Microsoft AppSource to extend its functional capabilities.

There are two major and ten minor updates each year. Most upgrades are completed within one month of deployment and take less than 30 minutes to complete. Although organizations can choose the day of the upgrade, a differential element compared to other solutions.

3.- WORKDAY ENTERPRISE


Workday Enterprise Management Cloud is a market leader according to Gartner. The product offers a specific solution for Tier 1 and upper-mid-market organizations with customers in the Americas, EMEA and APAC. And its customers, for the most part, are large enterprises, a solution not intended for small or medium-sized businesses.

It uses an enterprise approach to pricing, which is based on the value provided by the solution. Workday is sold directly to customers, not having a partner network (which moves away from other solutions that through its partner network are closer to the customer and know their needs, being able to adapt much better to the casuistry of your company). It is a 100% cloud-native solution with no local deployment capabilities.

It has good internal capabilities for financial management, planning and analysis, O2C, human resources and procurement applications. Two upgrades are delivered per year and all companies receive the upgrade at the same time.

4.- ORACLE NETSUITE

Within Oracle there is also the Oracle NetSuite solution that offers a solution for the lower-middle market within the leaders quadrant. It has robust functionality for service-centric ERP using internally developed components; however, it has partnerships for increased functionality in O2C, HR and procurement. Two upgrades are automatically delivered to users per year.

5.- ERP SAP S/4HANA CLOUD


As in the case of Microsoft, there are two ERP within this brand, one of them is SAP S/4HANA which is among the market leaders and although there are different implementation models, the cloud version is the most remarkable. It is intended for medium-sized and first level companies. It is sold directly to customers from SAP and through implementation partners. It has financial management, 02C, human resources and procurement applications.

6.- INFOR

Infor is a visionary player in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. Its approach to service-centric ERP is through three main offerings: Infor CloudSuite Corporate, Infor CloudSuite Healthcare and Infor CloudSuite for the public sector. These products offer a comprehensive solution to the mid- to upper-mid-market, large enterprise customers. The majority of its customers are located almost equally in the Americas and EMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa].

It offers only user-based pricing. Infor CloudSuite forms the basis of these products; it is a cloud SaaS solution managed 100% on Amazon Web Services [AWS]. Users can add third-party tools through its platform and Marketplace. Typically, there are five updates per year, delivered simultaneously to all users.

7.- SAGE


SAGE Intacct is a niche player in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. The product was created as a solution specifically for lower-middle market organizations, with customers primarily in North America, and has an emerging global presence in some countries.

Resellers and implementation partners are key to Sage Intacct's strategy, as they do not have their own professional service. It is a 100% cloud-managed solution and does not allow local implementation. It focuses primarily on financial management applications, including planning, with solutions developed in-house.

Four upgrades per year are delivered and all client organizations are upgraded at the same time.

8.- FINANCIAL FORCE

Financial Force is a niche player in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. It provides a global solution to the low end of the market. Most of its customers are in the Americas, followed by EMEA and a much smaller percentage in Asia/Pacific.

Financial Force is a SaaS solution that can be managed 100% in the cloud, or through local configurations in its SaaS licenses, provided by Salesforce data centers.

Financial Force relies heavily on its partner network solutions for the operational and HR modules; however, the financial modules are developed in-house. More than three upgrades per year are provided.

9.- SAP BUSINESS BYDESIGN


On the other hand, SAP Business ByDesign is a niche player in Gartner's magic quadrant. It offers a specific solution for mid-size and tier 1 organizations, with customers in the Americas, EMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa] and APAC [Asia/Pacific]. It is a 100% cloud-managed solution with no on-premises capacity. And sales are primarily through SAP partners. It has financial management and procurement applications.

Four upgrades are delivered per year and all customer organizations are upgraded on the same day.

10.- OTHER ERP


There are other ERPs that are more niche or more specific for some industries but although they have smaller market shares they can be taken into account: UNIT4 ERP, RAMCO, ERP, DELTEK MACONOMY, PLEX SYSTEMS, QAD, EPICOR,... And some others that have more local character, so they will be known in their countries of reference.

How to choose the best ERP for your company


When a company decides to take the step of looking for an ERP for its business, it is important to ask itself different questions such as: Do I want a global solution or just for a specific area of my company?
